AFIP Demands Accounts On Crypto Trade

Demand for accounts on all forms of crypto trade have been made by AFIP, Argentina’s tax authority, on monthly basis. The need for a critical examination of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin amidst others prompts this demand.

Following the update by Buenos Aires Economico on Tuesday, financial institutions including crypto-based trades within the confines of the nation have been instructed by AFIP to provide accounts on all financial activities of users, monthly.

The authority demanded that the crypto enterprises within the nations’s juridiction keep a track on user’s financial details, as reference was made to 8126 information regime form which keeps record of digital trade activities.

Still on the update, the 15th day of every succeeding month calls for firms to tender their  financial updation for a given month. This isn’t peculiar to crypto trades alone as intermediating financial companies such as Mercado Pago are involved too.


This recent development is ushered in amidst the country’s bearish economic stance. Mercado Libre gave a newness to the widespread of crypto after it committed its real estate section to crypto in April ending. This gave a new craving for crypto exchanges in Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico, its three highly esteemed trades. Ripio had formerly secured the main Brazilian crypto trade, Bitcoin.

Lately, the nation’s authority have been observing its crypto firms keenly. At the beginning of April, the nation’s Central Bank made  a request that the local banks send update on its users Bitcoin exchanges. Ignacio Torres towards the end of 2020 made known an intended plan to recommend a bill before the nation’s Parliament that is crytocurrency-oriented.
